The Extended Executive Board of the University is the highest governing body in academic matters (University Act § 32).
It is composed of the Executive Board of the University, the deans, and the delegates from the representative bodies. Also attending in advising capacity are the Secretary General, the General Counsel, the President of the Gender Equality Commission, the Head of the Communications Office and the Chief Information Officer. The Extended Executive Board of the University meets nine times per calendar year. The meetings are chaired by the President of the University.
The Extended Executive Board’s main responsibility is to approve the University’s mission statement, the development and financial plan, and the faculties’ framework ordinances for degree programs and ordinances on obtaining doctoral degrees, for the attention of the Board of the University. In addition, the Extended Executive Board of the University issues the regulation governing the election of delegates from the representative bodies to the governing bodies of the University and approves the regulations governing the organization of the faculties, the habilitation regulations, and the ordinances on adjunct professorships and on the faculties’ continuing education programs. Furthermore, it elects the members of the University’s standing committees and decides on the granting, extending and withdrawing of academic titles (such as Venia Legendi and adjunct professor).
